I know not all of us like tea or enjoy anything other than
our favorite cup of Joe. But nothing is more comforting than a nice warm and tasty cup of tea. Trust me, this homemade
and wonderfully flavored apple-ginger tea will have you wonder why you
never liked tea in the first place. This recipe will probably make you miss your favorite barista, but you most certainly won't miss coffee.
Tip of the Day: Make homemade potpourri by adding some water to remaining solids from the tea and simmer on low to
permeate your house with the pleasant scents of fall.
Ingredients:
3 apples
1 ginger root stock
1-2 sticks of cinnamon
3 star anise
tbsp whole allspice
honey
half a lemon
Instructions: Serves 4
In a medium
sauce pan, bring four cups of water to a boil. Peel apples (if not organic) and
cut lengthwise into quarters. Slice unpeeled ginger root into thin rounds. Add
apples, ginger, lemon half, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and allspice. Reduce
heat to low and let simmer for approximately 30 minutes. Serve with honey and a squeeze of lemon.
